On the evening of December 1, 2024, the Canadian Shaanxi Association held an online lecture on the theme of "How to Prevent Telecommunications Fraud in the AI Era" through the Zoom platform. This event invited Wang Xianpeng, a senior police officer who has worked in the Toronto City Center Police Department for 18 years, to give a lecture. It was hosted by Yang Zijin and attracted more than 80 fellow Shaanxi residents to actively participate.

In the lecture, police officer Wang Xianpeng combined years of law enforcement experience and real cases to reveal how artificial intelligence technology is used by fraud gangs. He specifically mentioned that these gangs obtained the victim's avatar, voice and environmental information to produce highly realistic false videos, used plots such as "relatives and friends were kidnapped" to create panic, and carried out extortion, causing the victims to suffer heavy economic losses.
Officer Wang further pointed out that fear and greed in human nature are the two key factors for the success of fraud. Scammers manipulate the victim's emotions by creating fear (such as fabricating an emergency crisis) or stimulating greed (such as providing false lottery winning information), causing them to lose rational judgment and eventually fall into a scam. He emphasized that only by fully understanding and overcoming these psychological weaknesses can we effectively prevent fraud.

In addition, he shared practical prevention suggestions for the audience:
1. Keep personal information safely: Avoid sharing too much personal and family information on social platforms, especially video and audio content.
2. Handle the crisis calmly: When facing emergencies, first stay calm, do not be swayed by emotions, and be sure to verify the authenticity of the information.
3. Beware of "pie in the sky": Be wary of so-called high-return investments or lottery winning news and resolutely resist the temptation of getting something for nothing.
4. Call the police promptly: When you discover that you have been defrauded or receive suspected fraud information, immediately contact the police or the anti-fraud hotline.
During the interactive session, participants actively asked questions and had a heated discussion on how to identify complex fraud methods. One participant lamented: "These scams of fake videos and sounds are so realistic that I had never imagined them before! I felt a lot benefited after listening to the lecture."
Moderator Yang Zijin concluded: "This lecture not only allows everyone to understand the new fraud methods in the AI era but also helps us realize the importance of inner weaknesses in preventing fraud."

At the end of the lecture, Liu Xiaobin, chairman of the Shaanxi Association, expressed his gratitude to Police Officer Wang Xianpeng for his professional explanation and the enthusiastic participation of the township party, and said that the Shaanxi Association will continue to organize more activities close to the needs of the community to help everyone cope with various problems in modern life. challenges and jointly build a safe and harmonious living environment.
This lecture was a complete success, which fully reflected the mission and responsibility of the Shaanxi Association to serve the community and care for the community.
