With spring breezes blowing gently and hometown affection running deep, Toronto, Ontario, Canada welcomed Mr. Zhang Shoushan, President of the Myanmar Shaanxi General Chamber of Commerce, and his wife, Ms. Liu Ling, along with their delegation on April 14, 2025. The Canadian Shaanxi Association, in collaboration with the Canadian Shaanxi General Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Northwest General Chamber of Commerce, hosted a welcome banquet. At the authentically Shaanxi-style “Northwest Tower” restaurant, the delegation and numerous overseas Chinese community friends gathered to share hometown sentiments and discuss cooperation.

This visit marked a significant interaction between the Shaanxi Chambers of Commerce in Canada and Jamaica. The banquet was hosted by Zhou Zhijun, President of the Shaanxi Association of Canada, with attendees including key leaders of the Shaanxi Association, Mao Yi, President of the Shaanxi General Chamber of Commerce in Canada, numerous representatives from the overseas Chinese community, as well as delegates from the Northwest Canada General Chamber of Commerce and the Gansu Chamber of Commerce. Gathered, guests savored hometown delicacies in a warm and lively atmosphere.

At the banquet, President Zhang Shoushan first introduced the development history, current operations, and future of the Myanmar Shaanxi General Chamber of Commerce, sharing experiences in promoting Shaanxi culture and trade cooperation in Myanmar. To express his sentiments, President Zhang specially presented a uniquely Burmese “Myanmar gemstone painting,” exquisitely crafted with profound symbolism. The Canadian Shaanxi Association reciprocated with custom-made souvenirs bearing their emblem, symbolizing the profound bond between compatriots across the seas. Subsequently, the Myanmar Shaanxi General Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Shaanxi Association exchanged gifts. All attendees gathered for a commemorative group photo, capturing this heartfelt connection that transcends mountains and seas.

President Zhou Zhijun, President Mao Yi, and Acting President Qu Yan of the Canada Northwest Chamber of Commerce respectively presented the achievements and future visions of their respective chambers. This exchange not only deepened the bonds among fellow Shaanxi natives in Canada and Myanmar but also laid a solid foundation for future collaboration in trade, culture, and community development. As President Zhou Zhijun remarked, “No matter where they are, the bonds among Shaanxi natives are as enduring as the Qinling Mountains and as vigorous as the Yellow River.” Attendees unanimously agreed to leverage this visit as an opportunity to strengthen connections and promote resource sharing and win-win cooperation among Shaanxi natives worldwide.
