To enhance community residents' financial awareness and retirement planning capabilities, a special online seminar, "How Much Money Do You Need to Save for a Worry-Free Retirement?", co-hosted by the Shaanxi Association and HR Financial, was successfully held on the evening of April 15, 2026. The event attracted enthusiastic participation from many Chinese friends living in Canada, generating a lively online atmosphere and positive feedback.
Â
The seminar featured Ms. Ivy Song, President of HR Financial and a CFP (Certified Financial Planner) as the keynote speaker. Ms. Song possesses extensive experience in wealth management and retirement planning and has provided professional and systematic financial planning services to the Chinese community for many years.
Â
The seminar focused on the core topic of "How to Achieve a Worry-Free Retirement," covering several important areas closely related to people's livelihoods. The speaker explained in detail the composition and characteristics of the three major sources of retirement income in Canada and analyzed the differences in retirement planning strategies for people at different income levels using practical case studies. Ms. Song also emphasized the crucial significance of "age 64" in retirement planning, providing in-depth analysis from aspects such as policy transitions, welfare access, and tax arrangements.
Â
In addition, the lecture systematically reviewed the proper allocation of RRSPs (Registered Retirement Savings Plans), TFSAs (Tax-Free Savings Accounts), and traditional bank deposits, helping participants develop a clearer investment and savings strategy. Regarding tax optimization, the lecturer explained in simple terms how couples can allocate income to achieve a reasonable reduction in overall tax burden.
Â
To enhance interactivity and participation, the organizers also included a lucky draw with practical prizes such as phone stands, which were well-received by participants and further enlivened the online atmosphere.
Â
This lecture not only provided practical retirement planning knowledge for the Chinese community but also reflected the Shaanxi Association's mission to serve the community and promote information exchange. In the future, the Shaanxi Association stated that it will continue to collaborate with various professional organizations to hold more practical and relevant public lectures to help community members achieve a more stable and secure life plan in Canada.
